State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury said that Matarbari seaport will not only strengthen the economy of the country but will also work in moving forward together with good relations with neighboring countries. Our friendly countries can also take advantage of it.
He said this while visiting Matarbari seaport on Thursday.
Referring to the fact that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is going to inaugurate the Matarbari seaport on November 11, the Minister of State for Shipping told the reporters that the journalists themselves said that it is going to be the Singapore of South Asia. The foundation is going to be laid on Saturday. Two to three billion dollars will be added to the country`s economy from Matarbari. Engagement will increase in Chittagong, Mongla, and Payra ports.
"Prime Minister has introduced Matarbari to Bangladesh. Now many countries of the world know that Matarbari is the deep sea port of Bangladesh. Matarbari has become a channel and it will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister", he added.
Expressing his gratitude to the Prime Minister for giving the deep sea port to Bangladesh, Khalid Mahmud said that due to the management of the country by the Prime Minister, Bangladesh is in a place of respect both nationally and internationally. Matarbari seaport has now become a hub of regional trade and economy.
In response to the journalist`s question, State Minister for Shipping said that the work of both Matarbari port and road is progressing equally. The terminal and road will be visible at the same time. Railway line will also be connected to Matarbari soon. The Prime Minister has actually shown the fact of moving the country forward by multi-modern connectivity.
Regarding financing, he said, "The economy of Bangladesh is very strong. Covid-19, Ukraine war nothing can defeat us. A leader like Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is in charge of managing the country, and the people of the country will never fall into crisis."
